Boys' Hope/Girls Hope of Baltimore

Boy's Hope/Girls Hope of Baltimore provides a safe and stable home setting four young adults from difficult personal and residential circumstances. I have been a regular volunteer who has provided mentoring to young men in a variety of ways: assisting with college visits, driving instruction, and providing twice-monthly meals, conversation and camaraderie that young people need in order to succeed. Please take a moment to read about the good work Boys Hope/Girls Hope is providing in Baltimore.

Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland
The Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland investigates and regulates the ethical conduct of lawyers.   I have served as a peer review panel member and peer review panel chair in excess of 15 years.  In this capacity, I have participated in dozens of cases at the initial step in the ethical review process.

For information about the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland, Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct, information on how to file a complaint, and a list of sanctioned attorneys, please go to the Attorney Grievance Commission’s website at: Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland.

JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION – BALTIMORE COUNTY
Maryland Judges are appointed by the Governor, after a nomination by local Trial Court Judicial Nominating Commissions. The commission members are appointed by the Governor, and are comprised of lawyers as well as non-lawyers who review applications and conduct interviews of the judicial candidates. Following the interviews, the commission members make nominations of the most qualified candidates to the Governor, who then interviews the candidates and makes the appropriate appointment.

Over the last five years, I have served on Baltimore County-Commission District 3-Judicial Nominating Commission, and have participated in the nomination of candidates for eight open seats in Baltimore County. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had as a lawyer, as nominating the most qualified candidates to serve in Baltimore County is a critical element in assuring that Baltimore County remains a civil and safe place to live and work. I have written about the judicial nominating process, both locally and federally, in these two articles published in The Baltimore Sun:
